Beans Genome Sequencing

Beans:

The bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) is diploid having 11 chromosomes with 650 MB genome size. The current release of the common bean genome is 1.0 and was assembled from ~20x coverage of the genome using 454 reads (and a smaller number of paired end reads). This assembly included 521 Mb of assembled sequence and has been assembled in 708 scaffolds.

The genome assembly and annotation were publicly released and it is available at Phytozome.

Genome can be visualized with help of Generic Genome Browser. Presently, Common bean genome browser can be found at Genome Browser.

More information can be obtained at Bean genomics.
