BMS Version 2.1 Release

An intermediate release of the Breeding Management System (BMS) is now available on the IBP portal (download BMS V2.1).This new release brings  improvements to usability as well as some refinements to existing functionality including:

  • redesigned List Manager and Crossing Manager tools;
  • enhancements to the report output for Multi-Site Analysis;
  • new features in the GDMS toolset;
  • improvements to the data loading tool for uploading historical nursery and trial data; 
  • improvements to usability of the BMS administrative screens.

Additional information about these changes is available in the full release notes. If you would like install this release, follow this process:

  1. First, it is important to make a backup of any data that you want to keep. 
  • Launch the BMS/IBWS application currently installed on your computer.
  • Open a program for which you want to do a data backup by clicking on the > button next to the program name.
  • Click on the ‘Backup Program’ link under the Program Administration menu on the left
  • Save the backup file (.SQL) in a file directory that is easy to remember (eg. in My Documents).
  • Repeat the previous steps for all programs that you want to backup.
  1. Next, you must completely uninstall your current installation of the BMS/IBWS.
  • Locate the “IBWorkflowSystem” or “Breeding Management System” installation folder. It is usually found in C:\ drive. Look for a .exe file called “Uninstall”.
  • Double click on the Uninstall file to begin the uninstall process. 
  • Make sure to tick the “Uninstall completely” box.
  1. Lastly, install the latest version of the Breeding Management System (V2.1) following these installation instructions.

The next major release of the BMS is planned for the third quarter of 2014, with deployment of a fully professional, robust and complete system. This will contain significant changes to core nursery and trial management tools, improved performance and a simplified installation process.
