Privacy Statement

E-mail and Form Information

The Integrated Breeding Platform, (IBP) and the Generation Challenge Programme (GCP, www.generationcp.org) that manages the Platform, does not obtain personal information about you when you visit our web sites or through other online services unless you provide us that information voluntarily.

If an individual sends an e-mail message with a question or comment or fills out a web-based form, and either form or communication contains personally identifying information, that information will only be used to directly respond to the sender, unless otherwise specifically provided. The request for information may be redirected within GCP and selected affiliates that may be better positioned to respond to the request.

Any personal information provided to the IBP and/or GCP will not be released to outside parties unless we are legally required to do so in connection with legal proceedings, law enforcement investigations, or other applicable laws. Personal Information means any information that may be used to identify an individual or business, including, but not limited to names, phone numbers, physical mailing addresses, email addresses, locations, or other contact information.

Non-Personal Information means information that does not specifically identify an individual or business, but includes information from you, such as your browser type, the URL of the previous website you visited, your Internet service provided (ISP), operating system, and your Internet protocol (IP) Address. Non-Personal Information is not typically used to personally identify you.

Recipients of any periodic communications from the Platform or GCP, such as newsletters and various alerts, will be provided opportunity to unsubscribe through an appropriate link on the Portal or by sending an email requesting that they be unsubscribed.

 

System-Generated Information

In addition to information actively provided by individuals using IBP and GCP websites and other online services, we may record information such as but not limited to the following types of information each time these access points are used:

  • Internet address of the computer being used
  • Web pages requested
  • Referring Web page
  • Browser used
  • Date, time and duration of activity
  • Passwords and accounts accessed
  • Volume of data storage and transfer
  • CPU, Network bandwidth consumption
  • Applications utilized and duration of usage
  •  

This information is collected for analysis and statistical purposes, and is used to help diagnose problems and to carry out other administrative tasks, such as assessing what information is of most interest to visitors, determining technical design specifications and identifying system performance and/or problem areas. This information will be used to monitor, preserve and enhance the functionality and integrity of the websites and services, and will not be used in any way that would divulge personal details to external constituencies except as already described above.

 

Cookies

These are short pieces of information used by Web browsers to remember information provided by the user, such as passwords and preferences from past visits. Some Web-based services require cookies for access. The IBP may hence use cookies to store service information. Any information that we may store in cookies is used exclusively for internal IBP/GCP purposes.
