SNP marker conversion

The Integrated Breeding Platform has converted 1000-2000 SNP markers for the major field crops for use in KBioscience's KASP System as listed in the following table. GCP may continue to convert additional SNPs to fill genomic gaps or for gene-specific/trait-associated markers.

To meet the demand by agricultural researchers and plant breeders who face difficulties in accessing up-to-date scientific information on useful molecular markers, the Generation Challenge Programme developed the Molecular Marker Toolkit - a tool which allows rapid access to currently available and validated markers.

The toolkit is a compilation of information available from internet sources, public databases and papers, verified against plant breeders’ experiences. As an easily accessible global public good, it supports the adoption of modern agricultural technologies to develop more resilient and productive cultivars for farmers in developing countries.
