Note: You can download Rindsel at the bottom of this page.

This R script calculates molecular selection index employed in marker-assisted selection. It combines information on molecular markers linked to quantitative trait loci (QTL) and phenotypic values of the traits. Two methods are implemented: the Lande and Thompson index and the molecular eigen selection index method.

In addition a user can also choose from a selection of phenotypic indices. Indices currently implemented are: Smith selection, Restrictive Kempthorne and Nordskog selection, Eiegen selection and Restrictive eigen selection.

Using R scripts requires the installation of CRAN and knowledge of R command line language.

This tool will eventually be integrated in a software with a graphical user interface. In the meantime, users who are familiar with R might get access to the scripts below.

R is a freely available language and environment for statistical computing and graphics which provides a wide variety of statistical and graphical techniques: linear and non-linear modelling, statistical tests, time series analysis, classification, clustering, etc.
